Newborn Lifestyle Pictures in Culver City

I specialize in in-home Newborn Photography in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. And oh my gosh, I got to meet the SWEETEST family for Newborn Lifestyle Pictures!

When Katie reached out, I could tell immediately she and her husband Dave were both so excited to meet their new baby. We set up a session date, and I waited to hear from them.

How to prepare for Newborn Pictures

After we finalized the details, I sent them my low stress prep guide. To summarize, it says to tidy up (even if you just have to toss things into the closet!), do a little low key planning on what to wear, and plan to relax and go with the flow. 🙂

Speaking of, what do I wear for newborn pictures?

The biggest thing is to just be you. But know that what you wear does set the tone for your images. If you want pictures that are a lighter, wear clothes that are a little lighter. If you enjoy images on the moodier side, wear darker colors.

Traditionally, I suggest neutral, light, solids if you just can’t decide. You can never go wrong with that combo!

Just remember to stay away from neon colors, or anything with logos or writing.

How do we plan the date for our session, not knowing when the baby will be born?

I hold my newborn sessions on the weekends. Based on your due date, I hold two session dates for you. The first, if baby arrives early / on time. The second date is if baby arrives a little later.

Since this is a newborn lifestyle session, and we aren’t doing poses, there’s no set number of days old your newborn needs to be.

Finally I got Katie’s email saying Connor had arrived! We finalized our plans and I got ready for their session.

Their home

I got inside and immediately fell in love with how their home was decorated. And I could tell they read my session guide – their place was immaculate! It was a photographer’s dream 🙂

Katie and Dave were dressed perfectly for the session and we immediately started getting great images. Connor is the cutest. He did so well during his session! We wrapped him and started capturing images in the nursery. I wanted to get some of him alone, some with just him and mom, just him and dad, and the entire family. We even got their dog Lucy in the images! We then got some super cute pictures in the master bedroom, before we moved downstairs to their living room.

Connor was happy to just go with the flow, and even gave us some great smiles.

And, so did his big sister, Lucy. 🙂
